The conference, which received media coverage from outlets including the news platform Titrsanat, examined from multiple perspectives the emerging dimensions of the legal profession, contemporary legal developments, and the practical challenges facing lawyers and arbitrators in the international arena.
Speakers and participants at the academic gathering enriched the discussions by presenting a blend of theoretical and experiential viewpoints. These discussions ranged from academic analyses in the field of international commercial law to applied examinations of disputes, contracts, arbitration, and cross-border interactions.
During the event, Reza Najaflou, a lawyer and researcher in international commercial law, stated in his speech—focused on “Essential Skills for the International Lawyer in the Digital Era”—that today’s lawyer, particularly in fields such as oil and gas and major domestic and international contracts, requires competencies that go well beyond purely legal knowledge.
He further noted: “Understanding the economic dimensions of contracts, effective negotiation skills, awareness of cultural contexts, and mastery of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, along with commercial legal language, are among the professional requirements of the modern lawyer.”
The organizers of the conference expressed hope that the continuation of such events would contribute to enhancing applied legal knowledge, strengthening synergy between universities and the legal profession, and fostering a more effective linkage between legal education and the practical legal market.
