According to Titrsanat, in an interview with Hossein Shahvaroughi Farahani, CEO of Yaghout Mining and Metals Development of the Middle East, emphasis was placed on the company’s role in transforming the country’s drilling and mineral exploration operations. Referring to the official launch of Yaghout’s activities in October 2022, he stated: “Yaghout was established with a strong shareholder structure comprising Minerals and Metals Development Investment Company (75%), Tajalli Mining and Metals Development Company (20%), and Sabanour Mining and Industrial Development Company (5%), with the aim of serving as the specialized exploration arm of the ‘Vamaaden’ group.”
Farahani noted that since its inception, Yaghout has focused on deploying advanced drilling equipment and modern project management systems, adding: “By establishing a knowledge management framework and continuously monitoring performance, we were able to identify operational bottlenecks and institutionalize a process of continuous improvement. The outcome of this approach has been higher productivity and reduced technical risks in the country’s major mineral exploration projects.”
According to the CEO of Yaghout Mining and Metals Development of the Middle East, conducting targeted market studies and cooperating with knowledge-based companies active in oil and mining drilling have enabled the company to leverage advanced technologies and adopt more efficient operational methods.
Referring to several flagship drilling projects carried out by the company, he emphasized:
The Janja mining area project, involving approximately 14,000 meters of drilling and the deepest borehole drilled in the country, reaching a depth of 1,100 meters, executed for Janja Mining and Industries Development Company in Sistan and Baluchestan Province.
The Kahng exploration area project in Ardestan, with 3,000 meters of drilling, and North Varzaneh, with 2,500 meters of drilling, commissioned by Paya Exploration Management Company.
The D11 anomaly project at the Saghand Mine (Shahid Soleimani), comprising more than 12,000 meters of drilling, conducted for Mobarakeh Steel Company.
The Nazil exploration area project in Taftan County, with 5,000 meters of drilling, carried out under the direct commissioning of Yaghout itself.
He also pointed to the ongoing D3 and D5 anomaly projects at Saghand, involving a total of 18,500 meters of drilling, carried out for TAMCO. Highlighting the company’s strong capacity in providing technical and engineering services, Farahani stated: “Yaghout is not merely a drilling contractor. By leveraging up-to-date technical expertise, the company is capable of designing exploration programs, analyzing geological data, and providing comprehensive technical support for projects. In this sense, Yaghout operates as an integrated research and execution arm in the field of mineral exploration.”
He added that focusing on the control, monitoring, and optimization of drilling operations through the use of effective drilling mud additives and functional materials has reduced issues such as fluid loss and borehole wall collapse, while simultaneously increasing drilling speed and quality. Concluding his remarks, the CEO of Yaghout Mining and Metals Development of the Middle East stated: “We believe that the country’s industrial and mining development is not possible without scientific and technology-driven exploration. By relying on advanced technologies, skilled human capital, and a culture of continuous learning, Yaghout has outlined a dynamic, knowledge-based path for the future of exploration in Iran.”
