Rasouli: In the Path of Maritime-Oriented Development, the Voice of the Media Is Our Guide and Ally

According to TitrSanat, during this cordial meeting attended by a number of media professionals, Saeed Rasouli expressed his satisfaction with the constructive interaction between the Ports and Maritime Organization and the media. Referring to the media as the “trusted advisor of institutions,” he stated: “Throughout my tenure, I have regarded the media as the vigilant eye of society, and I consider their candid critiques as opportunities for improvement rather than threats.”

Referring to the importance of fostering dialogue and transparency in specialized fields, he noted: “In many cases, the media point out precise and insightful issues in their analyses and reviews. However, some matters at times require confidentiality and appropriate timing in disclosure in order to safeguard public and national interests.”

The CEO of the Ports and Maritime Organization also announced plans to organize field visits for media professionals to the country’s ports and to establish educational professional associations centered on the Organization, with the aim of expanding these interactions and enhancing public awareness of the country’s extensive maritime capacities.

Continuing his remarks, Rasouli emphasized the necessity of strengthening the “maritime-based economy,” stating: “Seas are among the primary sources of national wealth and a key factor in diversifying the country’s economic portfolio.”

“If we can enhance the efficiency of utilizing maritime capacities, we will be able to reduce our reliance on a fuel-based economy.” He described cultural development as one of the fundamental pillars of realizing a maritime-based economy, adding: “The cultural dimension of this path is of great importance. Through cooperation with the media, public education, and the promotion of maritime knowledge, we must raise society’s awareness of the significance of a maritime-oriented economy.”

According to Rasouli, the development of small ports, the traditional dhow fleet, and recreational vessels represents significant national capacities which, alongside commercial ports, can contribute to the growth of auxiliary industries, tourism, and coastal employment.

In conclusion, the CEO of the Ports and Maritime Organization emphasized: “Achieving a maritime-based economy requires unity, collective thinking, and cooperation among various stakeholders, including the media. Such intellectual and cultural synergy will guide the country’s ports toward greater effectiveness within the national economy.”
